Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964 is an American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and also as an United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. She gained a national profile due to her sharp questioning of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of assault on a woman.
